Part 2 of the May Noemaru update!

~

(Jya~n)

If there are any English phrases that you find interesting now that you’re on local soil, please tell me!

~

Noel

I thought that the slang phrase “You killed me!” was interesting. The direct translation is kind of terrifying, but apparently it’s a phrase that means like, “that’s wild!” or “that’s seriously great!”! The first time the instructor at the dance studio told me that I was super surprised!

I mean, in my head I was like “…Eh?! Should I be happy with that? You’re saying something pretty incredible while smiling like that!”, you know. (lol)

I’ve recently started learning sign language, which I’ve always been interested in!!!

Do you have any study tips for it, like the methods you used for studying it during the stay-home period?

~

Noel

Wow! Amazing! One’s learning truly never stops, eh ☺️

Whether it’s sign language or anything else, if you remember related ones together, or remember them as a set together with the thing they’re based on such as the origin of the word, not only will your interest in them deepen, but they’ll also become harder to forget, so that’s what I recommend! ✏️

For example, try looking up the sign language for Kumamoto Prefecture’s “Kumamoto”, or Kato-san’s “Kato”!

You’ll be able to remember things about history, like castles or armour or spears, and from the connection between the two you’ll start thinking about things like “I wonder how other prefecture names are expressed?” or “How is Sato-san expressed? Eh? Is it the same sign as for ‘sugar’?” or “Wow, history might actually be pretty interesting!”!

There’s a series of 50 videos on ISLAND TV titled “Learn Sign Language with Noel Every Day!”, and while it might not be shot or edited expertly, if you watch that you’ll be able to see how I remembered the various signs, I think~!

It’s free no matter how many times you watch it~ So please do watch it~ ☺️

I work at an eye specialist’s office, and there’s something I’ve always been curious about so I’ll take this golden opportunity to ask.

What degree are the lenses on Noel-kun’s glasses?

I’ll do my best at work today, too!

~

Noel

You’ve worked hard at your job, as always~! ☺️

Perhaps there might come a day when I’ll be in your care! Until that time comes, please kindly look after all your patients, okay!

The degree on my glasses, huh! I don’t know! I’ve got to go back to Japan and check~! (lol)

If you’re a pro eye specialist, perhaps if I told you that without my glasses I can’t tell which end of Shi-chan* is their head or tail, might you be able to tell? 🤔

[ T/N: Shi-chan is one of Noel’s cats. ]

Please do your best at your job! You shou~ldn’t push yourself too ha~rd ☺️

Please teach me how you made the curry you made for the members.

Is there any part of the recipe that you’re particular about??

~

Noel

I’ll stir-fry together potatoes, carrots, onions, fresh ginger and chicken thigh.

Then I’ll add in the recommended amount of water on the box of curry roux.

Once it looks good, I’ll break up the roux, add it in and cook down the mixture.

After adding the roux, once it looks good again I’ll gently add the eggplant so that it’s enveloped by the roux.

Once it tastes good, I’ll add on the braised pork belly that I made before.

I’m particular about concealing the fresh ginger.

Ah, and the braised pork belly.

By the way, I can’t eat braised pork belly.

I make it because everyone likes it.

The key to making curry is to play around with weird things to be particular about, so that you won’t think it’s a failure no matter what it tastes like. Yep.

How did I do? Was this a good answer? 🤔

“Time Shock!”

“What number question is Noel-kun answering right now?”*

[ T/N: This is a common format of question asked on the quiz show Time Shock. ]

~

Noel

I’d like to seriously approach all of the questions as though they were the first one!

This is the 12th question! Congratulations!

Noel-kun, how long do you take to decide on things? For me, I’m really indecisive and can’t really choose, so I’m often pretty troubled about that. I think it’s definitely good to think things through, but to overthink isn’t good, right… If there’s anything that you prioritise when you’re deciding things, or if there’s anything that you use as a standard deciding factor, please let me know. Thank you very much.

~

Noel

It depends on what I’m deciding, but for daily-life matters I try to decide within 10 seconds!

If it’s things I need to decide within a fixed time limit, I’ll try to come to some preliminary decision by the time 80% of that time limit is up, ask around for other people’s views, and then think on it once more before deciding!

I can relate to being indecisive 🥺

I’ve long been an indecisive person too, so that’s why I came up with rules like this ↑, you know.

For example, when deciding on what to eat for lunch, when I’m like, “Shall I eat ramen? Or udon? Soba?”, it’d be impossible for me to simultaneously exist in a world where I ate ramen, and one where I ate udon, right. (Well, if you’re able to eat both then that’s different! (lol))

When you’re deciding which one to pick🤔, then no matter which one you pick then a “regret” will definitely arise.

I think you’d definitely be happier if the joy you get from choosing overrides that regret, and makes your life fulfilling!

If you do your best to cut down the time you spend deciding, you’ll be able to fill your stomach faster, and I believe that the satisfaction you get from that will definitely overcome the “regret”.

When you’re unable to decide, if you think that you’d be equally happy choosing either option, then you should make the decision at that time by rolling a die or flipping a pencil! ☺️

How did I do? Was this a good answer? 🤔

Do you plan to do a special where you reveal the members’ sleeping faces? (T_T)

~

Noel

If I manage to get the consent of the members…! Then someday…! (?)

But, it’s kinda inexcusable to go into someone’s room without their permission, okay! I’ll only do it when they’re sleeping in the living room, or with their consent, okay! (lol)

~

(Ringo)

To Noel-kun, who’s known as a cat lover. I love that foolish look cats get when they curl up like they’re surprised by something; do you have anything about the posture or behaviour of cats that you love? If so, I’d like to hear about it.

~

Noel

I’d love to become more known as a cat lover! 🐈 \ nyan nyan / That foolish look is truly the embodiment of cuteness. lol

I like the ammeownite! 🌀

I love it when I stick my face into the middle of their spiral, breathe in the cat smell, and get fur all over my face, and have the cat wipe it off with their tongue like “meow, what’s with you”.

(Momo)

The moon in Japan is pretty, but is the moon in Los Angeles also pretty?

~

Noel

As long as you change the angle you’re looking at it from, the moon will always be shining just the same amount, you know 🌕✨
