By the way, when I was discussing classical arrangements with Daka-san
I did send a demo of a classical piece that I’d lightly rearranged
It was an arrangement of Schubert’s “Erlkönig”
I sent him a file titled
20220324 Erlkonig Break Core.mp3
I was rejected immediately
How sad (well, it’s to be expected)
But, influenced by the idea of
Doing a breakcore* remix of a classical piece
(Or rather, well, it’s just that I personally quite liked it)
[ T/N: Breakcore is a style of electronic dance music. ]
We began work on producing “Swan Lake”
As a never-heard-of(?) mix of music:
Classical x Breakcore x Rock
(If anyone knows of anyone who has done this before, please let me know)
3/28
It was 5 days before our first time appearing in real-time for the broadcast of Rajira
By the way, on this day
We shot the first video for SamRok.
Along with the work for that
We also began working on the arrangement for “Shout”.
This was a little before Swan Lake
But for me, when I listened to that song
The image of Reia-kun holding a megaphone in one hand
And shouting through it in a warped voice
Ran through my head
Let’s make it happen, here.
While sorting out Reia-kun’s vocals
And the guitar part
We had actually already started working on updating “Shout” to make it more “us”
A while ago
And we did already have a version that had
A slightly longer intro
There’s no plan to perform that version currently, though
4/6
At this point, we were able to determine
The detailed staging, and what we could actually realistically do.
The setlist was also pretty much fixed
And what we had left was to determine what to do for each song
And how to link them together,
From a music production perspective we were getting to the best part of the process.
Around this time, we were also
Starting to get into the rehearsals for Globe Theatre
So it was getting pretty chaotic.
4/24
On this day, Taikou, Daka-san and I went to see a concert together.
I wrote a blog entry on it right after, didn’t I
It was a concert were various artists appeared, and the venue was Makuhari Messe
The hall was different, but
This would be the venue that we would be performing in only weeks later.
A part of (the visit) was to learn from watching the live performance of a pro
But we also had the intention of checking out the venue where we’d be performing,
And to check out how it looked
And for me, personally
I wanted to check out the acoustics of Makuhari Messe as a venue
Whether high notes could be heard easily,
How strong the echo would be,
We wouldn’t have as much time to do a last-minute push as compared to our usual concerts
So ever since we started working on the music
I’d been aiming to tailor it specifically to Makuhari Messe
And that’s why I came to check the venue out
It’s a venue I’ve visited many times to watch concerts
But this time I was watching while consciously keeping those things in mind.
And then
I made plans for the 3 songs
Swan Lake – Cinderella Girl – Shout
To link to each other smoothly without getting choppy in between
And made small adjustments here and there
While getting the members’ opinions and building upon what we did in rehearsal,
5/10
On this day, the Final Mix of the music
The final version of the track that contained the dance music and the sound effects that would play on the actual day
Was completed
On this day
The music production process of 1.5 months
Had finally come to an end…!!
…And that
Was a detailed recap of the production work behind the scenes
All the way up till the actual performance for GirlsAward
I think everyone else would already have written in their blogs
About what it was like on the day itself, and stuff like that
So please, go and read those as well
Finally, I’ll put up a selfie I took on that day
And sign off here
I think this is the best I’ve looked, recently?? ^^

Well then, I will meet you again next week,
Until then~ (^^)/シ
P.S. By the way, in preparation for (the concert) this time around I got a new bass
It’s #Mynewgear
It is a 6-stringed bass from my beloved Ibanez-san
I’ll put up a bonus photo I took with Konpi,
Who uses a guitar from the same maker (^^)b
